Our compounding dept. plays a very important role in meeting our patients’ special needs with special care. Our pharmacists understand that every patient is unique and dynamic in their drug usage and reaction, that more often the patient needs compounded and customized medication. In general, compounding medication may be appropriate when:
Oral medications are extremely bitter and needs flavor additives
Certain strengths of some drugs are not commercially available
It facilitate efficient dosing and increases compliance
Tablet dosage form may need to be changed to other forms for patients to take easily
Oral medication cannot be ingested and there is need for transdermal form
A patient is allergic to dyes, preservatives and additives
Appropriate medication are unavailable or discontinued
